The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering was founded in 2005 with an initial student number of 30. Since then, the department has grown to become one of the largest academic units within the Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science with student numbers exceeding of 500. The department comprises of 26 academic staffs with 70% of teaching staffs with PhD qualification, including 4 with Professional Engineer (PEng) qualification.
We currently offer two programmes, Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Materials and Manufacturing Engineering. Both the programme have been accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) through the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC). Our technical, design and project based curriculum will provide budding engineers with the expertise to solve real-life and complex engineering problems, and prepare them for the global engineering challenges of the 21st Century.
