  • Respond to emergency incident and assist in the evacuation of occupants to Assembly Area when instructed

Duty:

    First Aid Team

  • Keep team advised of any injury/serious injury or casualty
  • Assists in treatment of casualties and render first aid as required
  • Make arrangement for ambulance
  • Report status to Emergency Commander
    Fire Floor Marshals (FFM)

  • To lead occupants to the staircase and to the Assembly Area
  • Line occupants up for the roll call
  • Inform the Evacuation Controller of missing persons

Responsibility:

  • To keep track and coordinate license renewal for equipment required DOSH certification

Duty:

  • To keep track, prepare and follow up on the license renewal documents
  • To coordinate for the equipment maintenance and properly keep maintenance record of equipment
  • To coordinate the license renewal and payment process to DOSH
5 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Inventory & Distribution Leader

Responsibility:

  • To keep the inventory and maintain the laboratory and staff PPE records

Duty:

  • To purchase and inventory of PPE, such as lab coat, face mask, goggles, safety shoes, etc.
  • To distribute and provide PPE to lab staff
  • To set reminder to lab staff for regular inspection on PPE and keep the record
  • To distribute PPE to users in the lab
  • To record and prepare few sets of PPE for visitors (EAC, etc.)
  • To record and prepare few sets of PPE for students who did not bring their own PPE
6 General Exhaust Ventilation (GEV), Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), Fume Hood (FH), Fume Cupboard (FC) and Shower Drench Routine Inspection and Certification Leader

  • To coordinate annual inspection and certification of LEV, FH and FC by Hygiene Technician II

Duty:

  • Perform inspection on all LEV, FH, FC and shower drench checklist regularly
7 Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Leader

Responsibility:

  • To coordinate preparation of Chemical Register

Duty:

  • To alert on the new chemical purchased by department and researchers
  • To coordinate preparation of Chemical Register for faculty
  • To contact assessor to carry out CHRA
  • To coordinate and make sure all chemicals supported with SDS comply to GHS format
8 Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) and Radiation Worker License renewal for XRD RPO

  • To run all radiation instruments and maintain records properly.

Duty:

  • To run all radiation instruments
  • To appoint and undergo refresher course
  • To ensure every radiation worker must have radiation PPE (radiation dosimeter or film badge) and renew monthly
  • To conduct weekly area dosage check
  • To properly keep and maintain the record
    To run all radiation instruments

  • Radiation license – 1 to 5 years depends on AELB
  • Survey meter calibration – Annually

  • To review the documents submitted and make sure the experiment is safe to be conducted in the lab

Duty:

  • To review and ensure all lab users (FYP, URS, and postgraduate students) submitted JSA, SDS and 7th schedule before they are allowed to conduct chemical experiments
  • To receive, check and distribute documents to lab staff in charge according to the location of experiments/equipment used
  • To follow up on the documents which require revision and make sure the revision is done

  • To coordinate biological, chemical and schedule waste disposal for Sungai Long campus

Duty:

  • To make sure scheduled waste produced is properly labeled and recorded in inventory
  • To update the waste inventory regularly
  • To check regularly on the condition of designated waste storage area to ensure it is safe (containers free of leakage, hole, dent, bulge or corrosion)
  • To make sure incompatible components in scheduled waste do not mix in the same container
  • To move waste containers from level 7, 6 and 5 to temporary waste store room (KB509) weekly and to waste storage room when necessary
  • To dispose scheduled waste regularly
